Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar holds Mahasatsang at the site of the upcoming 'The Wellness City'

Chandigarh: Spiritual leader, world-renowned humanitarian and the founder of Art of Living Foundation, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar held a Mahasatsang at the site of the upcoming The Wellness City, located on the Chandigarh-Patiala Highway. The Wellness City is being developed by Prime Land Promoters and Builders (PLPB) and will also host an Art of Living Ashram – the largest in North India. With Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar coming to the region after a gap of three years, his followers turned out in huge numbers at the event, which was graced by the Governor of Punjab, Banwari Lal Purohit, who was the Chief Guest. The event was also attended by the Rajpura MLA Neena Mittal and Dharampal, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, UT Chandigarh.

"Punjab is a land of Gurus and it has always taught us the virtue of 'sewa'.  Today the only reason that the evil of drug addiction exists here, is because of the lack of inner happiness, which can come only through sewa, meditation and Yoga. Pranayam and Yoga help clear the illusions of mind and we get closer to the light within. Then no power in the world can snatch your smile away, " said Gurudev in his discourse.

Gurudev, while praising the concept of The Wellness City, shared  some pearls of wisdom. He said, "True wellness isn't just about physical fitness; mental and emotional happiness is equally important. To raise one's happiness quotient, one should be ready to serve others."

Gurudev also did meditation with the followers and participated in the Bhajan program. Congratulating the Art of Living foundation for completing 40 years of serving humanity, the Governor Banwari Lal Purohit said, “Gurudev's contribution in bringing happiness and peace to over 450 million people in 156 countries is laudable. The work that Art of Living has done towards drug de-addiction, which has helped over 10,000 people from 80 villages of Punjab is commendable.”

Sumit Singla, Director, PLPB sharing his views on The Wellness City, added, “We are happy that a centre is being built in Punjab which will be a central place for service projects and meditation programs for the entire Northern India.”

"Apart from the Ashram, the Wellness City will have a sprawling 90 acres area. It will have a central plaza driveway for access and an integrated pedestrian walkway through the entire community with overhead bridges for safe access. Designed by the top International architects, The Wellness City will be designed for physical, social, intellectual and spiritual wellness for everyone," said Lohit Bansal, Director, PLPB, who is also an AOL Teacher.

In the events, leading up to the traditional lighting of the lamp, a talk on the intuition process by Art of Living’s revered meditation coach Saket Kakkar was held, who also wrapped the audience in the sea of divinity with his mellifluous voice as he sang Bhajans that took the huge gathering in a state of immense joy and bliss. At the Mahasatsang, the logo of PLPB 'The Wellness City' was also unveiled by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
